The short version
Twelve teams of two, three scored workouts, and the loudest Saturday morning we've had at Golden Belt Club this year. Hats off to everyone who showed up, scaled honestly, and stayed to clean up the chalk dust afterwards.
The workouts
For the record, here's what we ran. All scores were team total.
- Workout 1 — "Warm Welcome." 12-minute AMRAP. 10 wall balls, 10 deadlifts at 60/40kg, 10 box jumps. Partners alternated full rounds.
- Workout 2 — "Heavy Couplet." Build to a 3-rep max front squat in 10 minutes, then 50 calorie row for time. Best squat + fastest row combined.
- Workout 3 — "The Finisher." Every minute on the minute for 16 minutes, alternating burpees-over-bar and toes-to-bar.
Standouts of the day
- Best newcomer: Priya & Marco — six months in and they finished mid-pack on a board full of veterans.
- Best scaling: Dom, who turned a rough shoulder into a clean kettlebell variation without losing a single rep.
- Best attitude: Tied — every team. We mean it.
Competitions don't make better athletes. They reveal the athletes you already are when you stop hedging.
What's next
Our spring throwdown is on the calendar already — registration opens to members first, then to the wider gym. If you missed this one, that's the one to put on the fridge.
